Moving into a New Computer

Copy the contents of the following directories to the corresponding directory onto an external hard drive.

  1. My Documents
  2. Favorites
  3. Desktop Items
  4. Copy Outlook and Outlook Express Data to new computer
    1. Navigate to “Local Settings – Application Data – Identities – Microsoft -Outlook”
    2. Copy Anything that looks relevant
  5. Copy the directories from the thumb drive into the corosponding user directory under c:\Documents and Settings\”user”
  6. Importing Outlook Data and E-mail
    1. Open Microsoft Outlook
    2. Click on “File”
    3. Choose “Import and Export”
    4. Choose “Import form another program or file”
    5. Click “Next”
    6. Choose “Personal Folder File (.pst)”
    7. Click on “Browse” Choose old Outlook file.
    8. Click on “Open”
    9. Follow instructions.
  7. Setup any new peripheral devices.
